We have been extremely successful in boys' football competitions down through the years, most recently participating in our fourth county final in five years:
Our Fourth Major Football Final
On Thursday June 5th the school football team set our for Lough George to play our fourth major county football final in five years. We left the school at 11:40am. When we got there we watched some of the other matches and it started pouring rain. When Mr. O Keeffe finished doing umpire for the other finals he got us ready for the match. He warmed us up and gave us a good team talk. The game was delayed for a few minutes because of the rain. Then we went out onto the pitch and started the game. We got off to a cracking start and scored an early goal. Mountbellew got right back into it and got a quick goal and four points. They were on top for the last 10 minutes of the second half but we got back into it for the next ten minutes. We kept picking off points and eventually we got within three points of them but in the last 10 minutes they scored a goal. We went looking for a goal but unfortunately we didnt get one.
It was a great day despite the result. We had a party in school with our parents and supporters and received our medals.
